Hiromu Takahara, the creative force behind the Japanese fashion label Roen, has carved a niche in the sartorial landscape with his distinctive fusion of rebellious motifs and meticulous craftsmanship. In the early 2000s, Takahara collaborated with esteemed designer Yohji Yamamoto, contributing to a series of men’s footwear that epitomized avant-garde aesthetics. Hiromu Takahara established Roen in 2001, deriving its name from the Japanese word for “noroshi,” meaning “signal fire,” symbolizing the brand’s intent to ignite passion and mark significant moments.  The brand’s ethos centers on eschewing fleeting trends in favor of a commitment to the present moment, resulting in designs that leave a strong impression with their dark and avant-garde style. Roen’s collections have been showcased in both Milan and Tokyo each season, reflecting its international appeal.  The brand’s signature skull logo and underground aesthetic have garnered a dedicated global fan base.

In 2016, Hiromu Takahara departed from Roen, and since then, the sought and value of vintage Roen has become more desirable. The Roen design team has taken the lead in planning and production, continuing to expand its reach, operating from a Milan showroom for international markets and offering products domestically through e-commerce, flagship stores, and select shops.
