Hiromu Takahara is a Japanese fashion designer renowned for his high-end footwear brand, HIROMU TAKAHARA, established in 2001. Born in Fukushima Prefecture, he graduated from the Men's Design Department of Vantan Design Institute in 1992. Afterward, he joined ABAHOUSE International, where he contributed to the design of Alfred Bannister shoes and played a pivotal role in launching the "irregular" and "Alfredo BANNISTER IN" lines. In 2001, Takahara founded his own brand, Roen, and simultaneously launched his high-end shoe label, HIROMU TAKAHARA. The brand is celebrated for its meticulously crafted footwear, often featuring innovative materials and distinctive designs. HIROMU TAKAHARA's creations have garnered attention for their unique aesthetics and exceptional quality.
Born in Hiroshima during the 1960s, Isamu Katayama developed a passion for leather from a young age, with its scent reminding him of motorcycle trips he took with his late father. Pursuing this passion, he relocated to Tokyo in 1983 and began working for a bag manufacturer, which allowed him year-round access to leather hides. In 1999, he founded BACKLASH Co., Ltd. and launched the brand ISAMU KATAYAMA BACKLASH. By spring 2004, he showcased his work in Milan, followed shortly by a presentation in Paris. Between 2007 and 2009, Japanese filmmaker Koichi Makino documented Isamu’s unique world of leather craftsmanship, culminating in the 2009 film Artisanal Life.

The collaboration between BACKLASH and Roen sets a new standard in tailored suiting. This jacket combines functionality and sophistication, featuring three well-placed pockets that balance utility with elegance. Its pinstripe pattern, crafted entirely from wool, offers a timeless look paired with durability. The buttons are thoughtfully wrapped in wool, lending a sleek and refined finish that complements the garment’s overall texture. Inside, the cupro lining—reflective of Roen’s distinctive graphic style—provides comfort and breathability. The back and top collar are constructed from premium calfskin leather, reinforcing the jacket’s silhouette while exemplifying both brands’ dedication to quality materials and meticulous craftsmanship. Dominating the design is the repeated “ECCE HOMO” motif positioned above Isamu Katayama’s iconic cross print amidst three coffin nails. This symbolism, translating to “Behold the Man,” underscores the jacket’s masculine essence and the collaboration’s shared respect for tradition and meaning. The result is a piece that seamlessly blends religion, innovation, and enduring style.
