Yasuyuki Ishii began his career in the 1980s creating experimental sculptures and installations, earning the Kansai Yamamoto Prize in 1987 for his wire-and-cord armor piece “Toch and Go.” He entered fashion in the mid-1990s with Guy Laroche before founding his label in 1996 and debuting at Tokyo Collection in 1998.
